Impact of World Pulse on rural women and girls from Mwenga in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo

A brief briefing on my day of November 11, 2019

While working in Mwenga territory, as World Pulse Ambassador, I spent my day today at the presentation of World Pulse to the women of a virtually isolated village called "Kwangambwa" in the territory of Mwenga in the province of South Kivu in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo. I took the opportunity to organize a local digital empowerment training for women and girls in this village and help them know that this is their secure online space to tell their stories, connect to a global community and create the change they hope to see in their communities. Everything went well to the satisfaction of the women and girls beneficiaries.

Unfortunately in Mwenga, almost all women have access to new information and communication technologies and especially to the internet. The majority of these women are illiterate and do not know how to use computer tools in this current dynamic of globalization. Faced with this situation, the digital literacy of these women is a priority in Mwenga territory in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Impact de World Pulse aux femmes et filles  rurales de Mwenga à l'est de République Démocratique du Congo

Un petit briefing sur ma journée du 11 novembre 2019:

En séjour de travail en territoire de Mwenga, en ma qualité de World Pulse Ambassador,  j'ai consacré ma journée d'aujourd'hui à la présentation de World Pulse aux femmes d'un village pratiquement isolé dénomé "Kwangambwa" en territoire de Mwenga en province du Sud Kivu à l'est de la République Démocratique du Congo. J'en ai profité pour organiser une formation de proximité à l’autonomisation numérique des femmes et jeunes filles de ce village et les aident à savoir qu'il s'agit de leur espace sécurisé en ligne pour raconter leurs histoires, se connecter à une communauté mondiale et créer le changement qu'ils espèrent voir dans leurs communautés. Tout s'est bien déroulé à la satisfaction des femmes et filles bénéficiaires.

Malheureusement à Mwenga, la quasi totalité des femmes a accès aux nouvelles technologies de l'information et de communication et surtout à l'internet. La majorité de ces femmes sont analphabètes et ne savent pas utiliser les outils informatiques dans cette dynamique actuelle de la mondialisation. Face à cette situation, l'alphabétisation numérique de ces femmes constitue une priorité en territoire de Mwenga à l'est de la République Démocratique du Congo.
